Prof. Metin Çakmakçı

Chairman

Professor Doctor Metin Çakmakçı is Board member and Medical (Surgery) Director of Anadolu Medical Center, a foundation-owned nonprofit medical complex. Metin Çakmakçı served in the leadership of Acıbadem Healthcare Group between 2000 and 2007 and was the Medical Director at Hacettepe University hospital in Ankara before he moved to Istanbul.

Throughout his career, he has worked at various institutions in Europe and the US. Prof. Dr.Cakmakci, whose main surgical areas of interest include surgical infections, oncological abdominal and breast surgery, has published in over 100 national and international journals and is at the editorial board of various journals. He is also leading the way in patient safety issues and healthcare quality throughout the country. The first, pioneering patient safety organization was founded by him at Acıbadem in 2000 and he was the Chairman of the “First International Patient Safety Congress” in 2007. He is a founding board member at Quality in Healthcare Association and served as Chairman of the Turkish Ethics and Reputation Society between 2010 and 2013, where he is still a board member.

Prof.Dr. Cakmakci received his medical degree from Hacettepe University, Ankara Turkiye in 1981 and completed his general surgery residency at the same institution in 1986. He was appointed associate professor in 1989 and professor in 1996 at Hacettepe University. He holds a post-graduate degree in Healthcare Management from Marmara University.
