Good Governance of Urban Reconstructions in Türkiye Information and Consultation Meeting

We organized a multidimensional advisory meeting, involving representatives of national and international NGOs responsible for areas such as women, children, animals, citizens, and social rights, as well as urban planners and lawyers, to conduct the introductory and consultation session of our Good Governance of Urban Reconstructions in Türkiye Project.

Good Governance of Urban Reconstructions in Türkiye Information and Consultation Meeting

İstanbul, 15 February 2024

At the event, we presented the goals, methodology, framework, and procedures of our Good Governance of Urban Reconstructions in Türkiye Project to our stakeholders, inviting their feedback to refine our project based on their insights and queries. The meeting held at Postane Galata was attended by representatives of the project's supporters, Türkiye Mozaik Foundation and the Civil Society Support Foundation (in Türkiye, STDV).

Our engaged stakeholders, who contribute to a variety of sectors and are dedicated to the improvement processes following disasters, paid close attention to the presentation of the project and inquired about the strategy and effectiveness of the tool we developed. Furthermore, we organized four group workshops during the event to ensure every stakeholder had the chance to contribute.

The workshops addressed themes related to societal, economic, environmental (both built and natural), and governance aspects, centering on three main questions directed at the participants.

The discussions in these groups prompted stakeholders to consider and respond to the following:

  1. What recommendations do you have to make this approach and tool more effective?
  2. Based on your suggestions, how can we enhance the distribution and application of this tool?
  3. What role can you play in promoting the widespread use and implementation of this tool?
